Bethlehem, Pa. (March 11, 2013) – Dennis J. Costello, General Manager of the Historic Hotel Bethlehem, is pleased to announce the hotel’s “France vs. Italy” Wine Dinner for Wednesday, April 10th.
The dinner will pit Françoise Buhot Launay, one of the hotel’s restaurant managers and a native of France along with Executive Chef David Troxell, representing France in the culinary arts, against Eligio Perotti, also one of the hotel’s restaurant managers and a native of Italy, with Chef Christopher Goodwin who will represent Italy in the culinary arts. The dinner will be a culinary battle between France and Italy. Both culinary teams, “Team France” and “Team Italy”, as to not give the other an advantage, will be unveiling their menus that evening. Guests will vote on which countries’ dishes and wines that they prefer.
The dinner will feature four courses; charcuterie and cheese, salad, entrée and dessert. Eight wines will be served that evening, one French wine and one Italian wine with each course. Wine experts will be on hand to discuss the wine pairings as will the Chefs and restaurant managers to describe their dishes. Both Team France and Team Italy will have their own staff and servers. There will be a social seating arrangement (cruise ship style). The winner will be revealed at the end of the night.
Entertainment will be representative of both countries. This event is expected to be a sold out engagement with advance reservations required.
