Bethlehem, Pa. (March 14, 2012) – Dennis J. Costello, General Manager of the Historic Hotel Bethlehem, announces the second annual commemoration of the Civil War with a unique Civil War era Banquet to benefit the Moravian Historical Society, one of the oldest historical societies in Pennsylvania.
The Banquet will be held on Friday, March 23rd and will begin at 6:00pm with a cocktail hour, live entertainment and mingling with Civil War re-enactors. The menu, featuring 19th century recipes selected by Executive Chef Federica Muggenburg, will include a hearty potato soup as an appetizer with an herb-roasted breast of chicken accompanied by creamed spinach and barley pilaf for the main course. Back by popular demand will be the chef’s mouth-watering Jefferson Davis Pie with bourbon infused whipped cream for dessert!
The famous Federal City Brass Band will be performing for the festivities. Natalie Bock, the hotel’s Historian said that they are an “accurate re-creation of a Union Army regimental brass band of the 1860’s, down to the authentic military uniforms and the original instruments all dating to the mid-19th century. This band collectively represents some of the finest brass and percussion players of Civil War music in the field today” says Bock, “we are fortunate to have them.” The keynote speaker will be the President … Abraham Lincoln that is, in an uncanny portrayal by Mr. Robert Costello. “You will feel as if you are in the presence of the 16th President of the United States, I’ve never witnessed anyone as convincing” says Bock.
The evening will benefit The Moravian Historical Society, whose mission is the preservation of Moravian history and its contribution to American history and culture. The Society will display rare Civil War artifacts from their collection, including actual pieces of the fabric from Lincoln’s coffin.
Tickets are $60 per person with tax and gratuity included, for reservations please contact the Moravian Historical Society at (610) 759-5070 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org
